The Curated Collective's Guide to Finding Your Personal Style

The Curated Collective's Guide to Finding Your Personal Style

Personal style is often treated like something you either have or don't.

You don't. You build it.

Slowly.

Through clothes you love, outfits you repeat, mistakes you learn from and pieces you can't stop wearing.

Stop asking what is trending

The first step is separating trend from preference.

Pay attention to what you repeatedly save. Do you gravitate towards clean silhouettes, bold colour, oversized tailoring, feminine dresses, statement jewellery or minimal accessories? Those patterns are clues.

Find your silhouette

Before worrying about brands, identify the shapes you feel best in. Maybe it's wide-leg trousers, fitted dresses, oversized shirts or cropped tops.

Build your base

Personal style doesn't mean every outfit needs to be dramatic. Strong wardrobes often have a reliable foundation: a great shirt, good denim, a pair of trousers, a versatile dress and simple tops.

Add the unexpected

This is where accessories become important. A statement bag, sculptural necklace, unusual earrings or colourful ring can make a basic outfit feel like your outfit.

Don't build a uniform

Your style can change. You can love minimalism on Monday and wear something maximalist on Saturday.

Personal style isn't about choosing one aesthetic and never leaving it.

Your style is allowed to evolve

You don't need to find your style once. You keep finding it.

Sometimes the easiest way to do that is to step outside your usual wardrobe and discover something completely unexpected.
